During this event, you'll learn about the science of honey judging, from the basics to advanced techniques. Our expert instructors will cover topics such as

• food safety and hygiene,
• proper harvesting, processing, and handling,
• honey show logistics and administration, and
• proper judging etiquette, ethics, and techniques.

The Introductory Training Class is the first step on the road to becoming an AHSTC Certified Honey Judge! The Intro Training Class (Level 1) is a day-long event. At the conclusion of the Level 1 class, participants will be a certified Honey Judge Candidate. There are a number of steps Honey Judge Candidates must complete before becoming eligible to sit for the (Level 2) Certified Honey Judge Exam. It takes most individuals 12-18 months to complete the requirements to sit for the (Level 2) Certified Honey Judge Exam. Honey Judge Candidates must complete all Level 2 program requirements prior to signing up for the Level 2 exam.

*PLEASE NOTE - The Honey Judge training is a separate, but related event from the OSBA Conference. You must be a registered attendee of the OSBA 2026 Conference to attend the Honey Judge Training. Please register for the OSBA conference on the OSBA conference webpage.

Being a registered attendee of the OSBA 2026 Conference entitles you to enter the Conference Honey Show and start earning show points. We highly recommend and strongly encourage all Intro Training attendees to enter as many categories in the honey show as they can.
